World Challenge Badge - Scouts against malaria
Friday 22nd November
At 3rd Alton we are proud to say that we have a very active Scout section of boys and girls.  As the Group is growing, we opened a second Troop in January 2022. The Scouts take part in a wide range of activities from hiking, camping, cycling, water activities and much more.  They also spend time collecting badges, developing practical skills such as cooking on open fires, as well as making lots of new friends, often life-long friends.

Scouts are organised into patrols of up to six or seven young people, each named after a wild animal or bird.  Each patrol is coordinated by an older Scout, the Patrol Leader, who is supported by an Assistant Patrol Leader.  Scouts have the opportunity to earn their Chief Scouts Gold Award during their time in the Troop.

Camping is at the heart of Scouting and each year a Scout will have many opportunities to go on camp (see some photos), including overseas.  Our main camp each year is usually a week long camp at half term in the school summer term.
